How do I know if my child needs pediatric occupational therapy?
If your child is having difficulty with everyday activities such as dressing, feeding, handwriting, sensory processing, emotional regulation, attention, or play, occupational therapy may help. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to discuss your concerns and help determine the best next steps.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your child’s first visit is a comprehensive assessment where our therapist learns about their strengths, challenges, and developmental needs through parent discussion, observation, and play-based activities. After the assessment, we’ll provide recommendations and create a personalized therapy plan.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No. You do not need a doctor’s referral to schedule an appointment. Parents and caregivers can contact Milestones Pediatric Therapy directly to book an assessment.
How often will my child need therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your child’s individual goals and needs. Many children begin with weekly sessions, but your therapist will recommend a schedule that best supports your child’s progress. There is no obligation to commit to ongoing therapy.

Parent involvement varies based on your child’s age, comfort level, and therapy goals. You may observe the session, participate in activities, or receive updates and home strategies at the end of each appointment.
Are occupational therapy services covered by insurance?
Many extended health insurance plans provide coverage for occupational therapy services. We recommend checking with your insurance provider regarding your specific benefits. Detailed receipts are provided for reimbursement purposes.
